What's your opinion on the Dying with Dignanty Act.  I just read about it in the paper today.  A woman in Washington, who was dying from pancreatic Cancer, was able to get a prescription from her doctor that would allow her to die peacefully in her sleep.  It does have a few guidelines though.

The Patient requesting the fatal medication must:

1. Be at least 18 Years old
2. Be declared competent
3. Be a State Resident
4. Have a terminal condition and less than six months to live, certified by two doctors
5. Make two oral requests, 15 days apart.
6. Make a written request witnessed by two people
7.
The patient must also give themselves the medication.

Personally, I think it's a fine idea.  If I was dying from a horrible painful death, I would like to go out with a little dignity.  Instead of being in a hospice or hospital I would be at home, in my own bed, surrounded by family and friends.

We would do the same for a suffering animal.  I actually voted on the measure, and I was happy it passed.  My grandfather suffered so much at the end of his life that it was a relief when he died.  What point is there to making someone suffer?

I think this is a wonderful thing. All states should allow it.

I agree.  I voted for it, as well, and I am glad it passed.

I think if that is how one wants to go out then fine. I would not do it as I see it  as a form of suicide..
