Hot Topic (6/19): Obama's economic policies

From ABC News:

A flurry of polls show President Obama's personal popularity remains high with few Americans blaming him for the financial crisis -- but the polls also show the president is losing public support for his economic policies.

Obama's spending proposals and a record-breaking national debt inherited from President Bush that is projected to grow could be Obama's political Achilles heels, and one reason he often underlines fiscal prudence as a top priority.

The percentage of people in a Pew Research Center poll out today who expressed approval for the way Obama is handling the economy slipped to 52 percent from 60 percent in April.

Recent NBC/Wall Street Journal and CBS/New York Times polls showed that nearly six in 10 people said the Obama administration is not doing enough to reduce the deficit, and the Pew poll showed about the same percentage disapprove of the government spending billions to keep General Motors and Chrysler in business.

Your reaction?

How do you feel about Obama's economic policies?

Yes! and "He's not doing enough to reduce the deficit..." is a little mild.

We'll have more to say in a year. I don't trust Geithner and Sommers, but I think Obama is really trying to do the right things. He needsto take into consideration opposing points of view. NOTE: That does not mean snide remarks by Republican minions, it means a different point of viewDifferent ideas from ppl who do not have big business and the FED's interest at heart.

As far as spending, I have no problem with it. Especially what he is spending on.  I think he should abolish the FED, let big banks fail, repeal NAFTA, outlaw all  lobbying,  and focus on innovation, not maintaining the status quo. Can't be done, because it is built on a bubble. We need to streamline and become more efficient .

Obama's honeymoon is just about over. His spending is ruining the economy with needless pork. The turtles in Florida can use the same highway as the rest of the people.

LOL!  I heard about the turtle highway too, Scorpio, and I thought...who's directing that traffic?  I pictured a Pied Piper type person trying to herd the turtles along their special road...Could money be spent more frivilously???  I shouldn't put that out there...it will happen. ;-)

Thank you! I've been trying to put my finger on it and you worded it perfectly!
