Hot Topic (6/20): In the beginning . . .

What do you believe about the origin of our planet?

Do you think it was created?

Do you think it evolved after a "big bang"?

Or do you have another theory?

How do you think this topic should be taught in schools?

Seperation of church and state!!!!

There is an alarming amount of evidence supporting evolution.

TELL THE CHILDREN THE TRUTH!

well, I know one thing: twern't "created" by some supernatural being.

I'll stick with science...and let's keep superstition out of the schools.

What do you believe about the origin of our planet?

That it was meticulously designed by God. I think a "young earth" is possible, but I think the "old earth" idea can also be supported Biblically.

Do you think it was created?

Yes! I can't see how it could have come about by chaos. The argument for chaos is fallacious and falls apart when logically scrutinized.

Do you think it evolved after a "big bang"?

I think it is possible. But the real question should be, "what caused the big bang?"

Or do you have another theory?

Nope.

How do you think this topic should be taught in schools?

I think evolution and ID should be taught side-by-side in science class. I think creationism should be set aside for a religious or philysophical class. Yes, creationism and ID are two different ideas about the creation of earth and mankind. ID allows for an old earth, micro-evolution, among other things, creationism only allows a young earth, and ZERO evolution of any kind.

ETA: There are also secular humanists who believe in ID - they believe that mankind was seeded on earth by an intelligent alien race. So ID is NOT theological. It only suggests that their was deliberate design by an intelligent being(s). It NEVER names the being(s).

I believe God created the planet and both could be taught side by side in a class designed for that maybe in High School....

Yawn.

ID = creationism.

And let's exclude secular humanist whackos from the equation...seeded from aliens, indeed...

I agree and I know all the arguments dinosaurs and comets and volcanoes but did it ever occur to anyone that god may have been testing the waters so to speak .Or perfecting his creations.Or maybe he was just playing around I don't remember anywhere were it states he does not have a sense of humor he has put up with us humans for 100's of yrs.

I agree.
I think you can believe in God (or some form of "creator") and evolution at the same time!  :)
They could very well be taught together and make sense together.
