Would you hire a male nanny?
Some people say that they would only hire a male sitter to babysit their kids for a few hours but would only want a woman for things like bathing the kids, changing diapers and putting them to sleep.
What do you think?
a male babysitter no to many things can go wrong same w/a female babysitter

Depends on the age and gender of the child.
But in general, if I were to hire someone to look after my kid, their gender would not be a big factor. Whether I trust them or not, personally, would be.
I think I've heard too many horror stories about babysitters and daycare workers shaking, beating and even cooking small children. I will do whatever I can to avoid EVER having to hire a nanny/sitter for my child. In the event that I do need to hire someone, they will be thoroughly vetted over an extended period of time and gender won't matter, so long as they can be trusted.

The only babysitter we use is a male. He's even spent the night at my house so we can go away. He's 30 and quite capable of taking care of kids, and the kids love him!!
But a nanny...no. when I think of a nanny I think of a primary caregiver...and I would never hire someone to care for my kids instead of me. Male or female.

I agree with this. As a single mom, I had no choice but to put DS in daycare, but I was extremely picky and checked out the daycare/preschool I put him in. Turned out to be a great experience for us all around, and it was church based. But I don't think I could hire a live-in nanny or sitter because of all the horror stories I've heard.

I guess I assumed everyone would do this, regardless of which sex the caregiver was.
