Sarah Palin will be announcing soon (according to CNN's Rick Sanchez) that she IS NOT running for Govenor of Alaska for the next term.

Edited to add: Sarah Palin is now saying she will resign within the month!! She is handing over the Govenor position to the Lt. Govenor!

What are your thoughts? Do you think she is setting herself up to start running for President in 2010? Is she hiding something?

  • I think one of two things

    1. I think it is very possible that she is getting ready for 2012

    2. I think she might be doing this because of everything that she has been dragging her family through. Also considering her child has special needs it could be that she needs to dedicate more time to her child.

I cant see any other reasons other then that.

I'm thinking along the same lines as you.

    1) The state is about to (like just about every other state in the union) hit some rough financial times.

    2)  She needs to distance herself from that.

    3) She is hoping distance from what's may just be about to happen in Alaska , will help her out in our possible quest for a 2012 Repub nomination.

But you know. It wouldn't suprise me in the least if she uses the tried and true politician's excuse for resigning.. "Family Issues" or wanting to spend more time with the family.  Seems to be the stand by excuse that most in public office use.

Wow. That makes her sound pretty damn selfish.

  • I can see her not running for re-election, if she's running for president in 2012. But resigning this month? I don't know . . . I'm anxious to read the Vanity Fair article.

  • Here it is in her words.  Sure, she talks in circles so I have no idea what she said even after reading it. LOL

"Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional Lame Duck status in this particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual, something I campaigned against and will always oppose," Palin said in a statement released by her office.

"It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success," she said.
