Obama says that if we have insurance that we like, we won't have to make a change.  OK, I accept that.  My question, though, is what happens if it's cheaper for the employer to abandon the insurance plans they currently have and go with something government sponsored?   While the government is not taking away my choice directly, is there the possibility that employers will make the jump to something else to reduce THEIR costs thus making it possible that those of us who currently have great insurance will end up with less coverage?

Does anyone know?

All the money for this is going to come out of us.

Well, what happens when the employer finds a cheaper version of insurance now? They switch. And either it's a good thing of a bad thing. This happens all the time now- I don't see how this is a valid concern.

And while you're at it, remember that when you purchase food, you're voting with your dollar. Local farms, diversity, sustainability- all these should be positively answered by your vote.

Do you pay for your insurance now? Do you pay taxes? The money is ALREADY coming 'out of us'.

I dont think anyone knows that answer.  Up to and including the people writing the bill. They just want it yesterday.  and if you disagree with the whole discussion, you are a right wing nut job, a shil for the insurance comapany.    Or an uncaring person who doesnt care about others.

My employer is wondering the same thing, and he is also wondering about IF they are planning to tax the health insurance he offers EVERYONE who works for him.

My DH is a small business owner and employs approximately 600 employees in 6 separate corporations.  Our revenue is nearly 100% dependent on reimbursement rates from federal and state funds.

We have attorneys, accountants and our state association of health care working on the cost of Obamacare to our bottom line.  Simply put, we will have no choice but to shut our doors.  We cannot afford to purchase insurance for all of our employees, nor can we afford the penalty (tax) owed to the government if we don't purchase the insurance.

In addition, those companies who can afford to stay open will simply revert to Obamacare since it will be cheaper to do so.  Obama can SAY he desires the American public to have a choice in healthcare, but he darn well KNOWS that his proposal actually leads to NO CHOICE AT ALL.  Obama is for BIG GOVERNMENT.  Well, as one person's siggy says "A government big enough to give you everything is a government big enough to take it away".  And Obama's government is QUICKLY working on taking away your liberties my friends.

This is already happening in my area. Businesses are dropping their insurance.

Then , you should talk to your white house representative. I am sure if people speak civil and bring up their concerns in stead of yelling, the government would listen. I am sure everyone knows that the health care currently is not working. In ten years I went  from paying a $10 co- payment to $30  and $45 for specialist. the other day I had to go to a specialist , I spent $ 45 for a consultation $100 for a co pay for x- rays and another $45 to see the Dr. for results. That does not include medication. I still have to buy generic in order to afford paying for meds.  My daughter and husband see the dr. more than I do. I am not poor but depending on what time of the month it is I have to make the decision to wait till after all the bills are paid - so that I can make the co payments.

I am sure the Government plan is cheaper.
