Israeli Interior Minister calls on Jewish state to ignore US pressure regarding settlement activity
Leader of the Israeli Shas movement and Israeli Interior Minister, Eli Yishai, said today that the American administration should be ignored.
The Barack Obama Administration, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, has been calling on the Israelis to honor international law and cease settlement activity in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The Americans have backed down significantly in the past few weeks in their demands of the Israelis that have been downgraded to “temporary” requests.
Yishai said of one of the most major of Israeli settlements, Ma’ale Adumim in the E1 area as named by the Israelis, “If there is no choice, Israel will have to build all the settlements, even though we have not been able to convince the Americans.” At the same time, Israeli security services evacuate two “outposts” that are considered illegal even under Israeli law.
Meanwhile the Americans, despite their “requests”, continue to give the Israelis three billion dollars, plus, per year.
