I have seen a couple of comments, over the past couple of weeks, that truly baffle me. There are really still people here in America that believe that education is NOT a right, and that there should NOT be public education? If so, please tell me why.

Your the one whom brought that ruleing to light why should I do YOUR work??????

Ok prove to me where they ruled differently. The question arose in this case as to where education was a fundamental right and that was the finding as it applied to that question. Show me where it says you have the "right" to an eduction. Not where you are provided with one but where you have the right.

Lovely how you took that ruleing out of proption had NOTHING to do with PAL or any of the Class AA, Class A, Class B, Class C or any of the other schools that was STUPID people (the same ones that put bison body parts on desks when people talk about "hazeing" the bison back into the park) PAL is NOT tution based its funded just like the rest of montanas PUBLIC schools, and that ruleing was back in '89 thats laughable, there have been numbers of other ruleings for items, this one happen to be about FUNDING not just if it was a right or not Love how you "forgot" that part. IF your child is NOT enrolled either in homeschool, montsorii, or public school, YOU the parent are arressted for truncey of a minor.  Every child in Montana has access to an education weather you have rich parents or not.  I myself attended and gradutaed from a Class AA high school that works VERY hard to teach its students.  the motto for the STATE AA CHAMPS for football whom are going for a 4-peat this year, is Additude, ACIDEMICS, Athletics  IN THAT ORDER.  But I am preaching to some one whom THINKS they "know" EVERYTHING when they dont know the whole story.  When we were in goverment class we were taught that EVERYONE has a RIGHT to acquire an education.

That's fine. I am not sure why your so vehemous toward me anyway. I am not saying it should not be a right just that it is not one right now. There are campaigns going on to try and make it a federal right(link). The ruling stands and you are the one saying that something in your state says differently so I was giving you the oppertunity to present it. When I brought the ruling up I did not even know it was your state. If I am wrong so be it, but the fact remains it is not a right in all states if any.

(1) It is the goal of the people to establish a system of education which will develop the full educational potential of each person. Equality of educational opportunity is guaranteed to each person of the state.

(2) The state recognizes the distinct and unique cultural heritage of the American Indians and is committed in its educational goals to the preservation of their cultural integrity.

(3) The legislature shall provide a basic system of free quality public elementary and secondary schools. The legislature may provide such other educational institutions, public libraries, and educational programs, as it deems desirable. It shall fund and distribute in an equitable manner to the school districts the state's share of the cost of the basic elementary and secondary school system.

Where doe it state in the constitution that you have the right to go to the bathroom and take a dump three times a day?or where does it say you have the right to hug your child on every first Tuesday of the month? oh , oh, and where does it say that every car has the right to make left turns in the month of February during the waxing of the moon? WTF!!!!!! Does the constitution have to spell everything out that is obvious? You talk about socialism- and being controlled by the Government, how about your concrete way of thinking?

Well, let's turn that around. Can you point to the part of the Constitution that makes it a RIGHT?

P

I have the right to vote for representation who agrees that we need public school so that everyone can get an education and will vote for laws that instill this.

That wasn't what you asked..YOU stated you thought education was a right. Please first define what constitutes a RIGHT, and then explain exactly HOW it is so by using the Constitution to do so.

And, IF we operated as we SHOULD be from the founding, no...nobody who doesn't KNOW that education is NOT a right would not have the PRIVILEGE--it's not a right, rights cannot be legally taken away from you--to vote. No ma'am.

I think it is a right and it's backwards thinking like yours that make this country's educational system fail.

I never said it was a right. I said it was important.

Let me answer your question with another question.....Correct me if I am wrong but does it not seem funny that the constitution says you have the right to bare arms but not an education? The constitution should not be the "Say all"
