Do you have a cracker barrel near by?  I'm really liking their spring line.  I buy most of my shirts in the fall and wear them year round.  Also you might try some other goodwill locations.

I'm currently making myself a skirt... when I feel like getting off of CM or have time otherwise... LOL! I hand sew.

There are some simple patterns and such you can find and make yourself some. Skirts are the easiest for me.

I feel your pain! When hubby and I went shopping for my new clothes...we went to at least 10 different stores, and didn't even get even half of what I was planning... :S        And I always lose the fight w/ the sewing machine, so it's in storage until I get the courage to try again. LOL.    I have a really hard time w/ clothes, cause hubby wants them lose, and high necked (covering my shoulder blades in front) and long enough that I can raise my arms, plus they have to have sleeves, plus they can't be a material that's even slightly clingy, plus they can't gap when I bend over, plus...well...you get the idea. :)    All I can suggest is look often. And look around at other thrift stores as well. Also, hit stores when they have big sales. My MIL suggested ColdWater Creek when they have their annual sale (we have one here in town)   Or, do you have a local chapter of freecycle? You could try there maybe....

I met this maker in a grocery store here.  I think there are quite a few sewers like her on ebay, but here's her site.

I like shopping at the Talbot's outlet stores, I just shopped at the store in Michigan and I came away with 10 (!) blouses and two ankle length skirts and 1 mid-calf skirt, all together for under $100 dollars!  Google Talbot Outlet stores and find one near you, you will be glad you did!

That's too bad that at that Goodwill you don't find anything...that is where I get all my long skirts from.  Just yesterday we stopped in and they were having a .99 sale on skirts.  I only found 2 that I really liked in my size though.  I do agree to shop often there...because they are always getting new stuff in.

Def try different locations of Goodwill as well.  We have one that is a little further away from the one I normally shop at...it's actually a "boutique" Goodwill...and they have lots more "modern" {if you know what I mean...not as modest} wares.

Keep your eye out for other thrift stores around town.  We have a Salvation Army, and a couple that are thru local churches.

If you do sew {I'm wanting to learn how so badly} making your own would be a great alternative, I would think.  A friend of mine does those long strip, hippy looking skirts.  She says they are super easy to put together.

This is what they basically look like...of course you could use any colors you would want...but it's a good picture, I believe, to show the strips in the skirt...

Good luck, Mama, on your search!!

I got a gorgeous tea length green dress from Target of all places. It's currently 40 bucks, but Target has clearance sales ALL the time. The neckline isn't bad either, it has a slit in front but it only goes to about 3-4 inches below the collarbone, and it has short sleeves.

Target has some really great options if you are willing to mix n match-and their clearance racks are great!
