Depending on the type of parents you have, they may have taught you how to cook at an early age. Or maybe your parents did not teach you how to cook at all and you had to learn on your own as a young adult.
Your background also plays a factor into it because in some cultures; for example, Italians, usually adopt the traditional old-fashioned notion that women should know how to cook at a young age because they are the homemakers to their husband and children. However, that idea has also diminished as the years pass, as well, depending on your parents' preference and whether or not they learned how to cook at a young age.
What age did you start learning how to cook? What age will you teach your children how to cook?
This is a bit tricky. I would love for my kids to learn when they hit their early teens but who knows? I think most kids learn when they're in college, perhaps junior/senior year in high school because they drive and have a schedule of their own.
I wasn't taught how to cook at all. I went away to college and pretty much learned myself. It also helped because one of my roommates cooked so I just watched her.
I'm teaching my son things little by little. He seems exited to learn though!
I have no idea. I mean, if my child doesn't want to learn how to cook, I'm not going to force him/her. They'll learn some day.
No specific age. My oldest is 9 so hopefully she'll learn soon. With a baby on the way, 4 kids is going to be crazy--it would be great if I could teach her young!
I would like my kids to learn pretty young but I guess we'll see. It's good for them to be independent at a young age.
