I was getting rid of some cookbooks that i've had for years and never once cracked open and found my favorite cookbook that i've been looking for for months!! what have you found while getting rid of your clutter?
Yesterday I was cleaning the craft{NIGHTMARE ROOM} room I found a ton of needlework books someone gave me and some that I bought that I will nver use. Out they went. Now my shelf just has books I want to keep. That felt better. I also found some yarn I will never use that was given to me that I am passing on to another knitter I know, that will prob use it. Oh, I was strqightening out my sewing patterns and found some of those I will never use and put those in the out pile. My poor hubby has to truck all this stuff out of my room to make room for me to go through more yarn bins. I have like 20 of them full of yarn and we're not talking Red Heart here. We're talking wools, alpacas, cottons, silks and ribbons. Just to name a few. All designer yarns. I'll never live long enough to use it all. But the next time I want to buy yarn I think I'm going to slap myself silly!!
Ok, yesterday I went thru the yarn bins and found some wondeful yarn and some {what was I keeping this for yarns} out those went. I have now been thru and touched and labeled every yarn bin in my craft room. Now, onto the knitting magazines. I went thru my books , I told you about that, and I went thru my counted cross stitch books and got rid of most of those. I already went thru my fabric and most of it is going. Today, the knitting magazines and my {NIGHTMARE ROOM} almost looks like a craft room that's well organized. I still have to put my floor loom on Craig's list, but we unearthed it yesterday and took pictures of it so I can post it there. That will make a huge difference when I get that out of there.
What have you unearthed that you've gotten rid of??
Dog licenses are due before April first and I had put the rabies certificates in a safe place. So safe that I had no idea where they were. After four hours I did find the last one, but in the process I got rid of a small pile of old newspapers (I have been much better about getting them out regularly) and a larger pile of catalogs, and any junk mail that had slipped through the cracks.
I just read an article about a woman who bought a secondhand couch from a thrift store.
After several days she discovered a cat inside the bottom lining of the couch - yes, alive thankfully. It took a lot of effort on her behalf but she did reunite the cat with its owner who had not seen the cat in 3 weeks. Poor baby.
I admit my craft room overfloweth, but that will be one of the hardest for me to simplify. Reading the above posts I so wished I lived near you and could see what cross stitch books were going out. Still addicted. (Sigh)

Quoting FiberMama:
I have a winnie the pooh cross stitch book I was going to free cycle, would there be interest in a swap thread for easily mailable items?
Only if you still have the cookbooks you were going to toss. I'm looking to replace some of my favorites that I have used to death and falling apart. You might have them and be chucking them. LoL!!
