I used to think the only way I could get organized or simplified was to move.
Then I did move...and... well, except that things were still in boxes and containers, I had stuff "closer" to where I wanted it to be.
Then I unpacked and I know it is an internal human problem, not a question of space.
i haven't really had to move all my things - ever. well, not since i was 17 anyways. and even then, i still had some stuff left at home that has returned to me (i inherited my family's home).
we did completely renovate our kitchen, and we had a dumpster here at that point. i have never found spring cleaning to be so easy as with a dumpster! it makes it so easy to just get rid of the stuff that has been weighing you down. and once you start throwing junk into the dumpster it can become addictive. i started thinking, "what else can i toss in here while we have this dumpster?" It was kind of exciting. : ) One of these days we will do a massive cleaning project and definitely use a dumpster.
Getting a dumpster is actually a goal of mine. Friends did it last fall and were so happy with the reuslts...altho she did fill it 2 times.
We will be residing an ugly old farmhouse so a dumpster will be a necessity. I am sure I can add a few extra (tons of) items as long as it will be here.
Yay! For getting rid of stuff you don't want or need!
But don't throw it out... bless someone else with it. Craigslist or a local freecycle group are both good options if you want people to come pick it up from you.
Or even having a free garage sale. No need to put stuff in a landfill. :)
