I've been thinking a lot on getting past losing items that I've felt attached to. My husband recently broke my coffee cup. I decided since no one can take my memories around it from me I would not get upset about it. Since I was able to find the clarity I was able to come up with the idea to use the broken cup ad a planter and filled it with flower seeds.
Today my son let one of my only two guinea hens loose from the barn. I admit my first thought was lost money running up the hill. But I've been able now to turn it around to concern about my poor animal.
What are some ways you've been able to turn around anger, sadness, etc, at a lost item?

I used to be very sentimental over things...not so much anymore.
I tend to think of those things I own in terms of their funtionality and I don't have a particular dish/article of clothing etc... that is a favorite that I won't part with. When it comes to memories, I try to remind myself that it's not the object that gives you the memories.. the memories are separate. Even from looking at a photo of the object, those memories can be evoked.
