We went thru every room in the house and got rid of a lot of just stuff, stuff that was just dust collectors and stuff we didn't use anymore.Hubby also went thru the garage and found more stuff. Like a Chandelier that I replaced a couple of months ago,'cause we were redecorating. Anyway we set everything up and put ads in the paper and put up signs and had a Yard Sale from 9-1 on the third and fourth and we made over $500.00 from stuff we didn't want or need anymore. We still had a lot of stuff left over, so we left it in the garage to do it again in two weeks. I don't expect to sell $500.00 worth next time, but every little bit helps. After that we're donating whatever is left and taking a write-off on our taxes. Not bad for a couple of hours worth of sitting around and waiting for people to show up, and my house actually has storage room for the stuff we kept, plus it's sooo much easier to keep clean without all the extra stuff laying around collecting dust and taking up valuable storage space, which I don't have a lot of.
How does it feel to have the stuff gone?
It feels like I lost 50 lbs, seeing it all go out of the garage. I love the way my house looks. I can open a closet and nothing is falling out on me. I still have to go thru my clothes closet downstairs and get the clothes I haven't worn in 10 yrs and donate them. I think clothes at a yard sale are tacky, clothes I just donate.
Attagirl! *wink*
I reduced my wardrobe by just over half & I feel wonderful about all of the pieces, footwear, & accessories that I decided to keep. I also wondered why on earth I thought that one summer skirt ever really worked for me. LOL
