This is an overused word, this "clearing". However, for me, using it often does not seem to dilute it's efficacy in helping me to deepen my practice of lush, graceful simplicity.
I am an inveterate "ridder". I go through everything I own once a month to see what needs to go to the trash bin, to the charitable donations centers that we support, & to friends & acquaintances.
My last "ridding" was just a few days ago. I was delighted to let go of so many things that no longer serve me on my path where I am right now in my life. I felt fresh & clear, like a good summer breeze or a clean mountain river were flowing through my body, mind, & heart, as I completed this all-important monthly ritual.
I feel blessed by my practice of simplicity, & I feel blessed & privileged to participate in this wonderful group. Thank you to all!

Very nice post! What do you do in preparation for ridding?
Oh, jeepers, love, I just love "ridding", so I'm all ready for it! It's something to which I look forward. I do make certain that I have disposable clothes hangers & a clean, fresh box or two to hold the things I no longer need. I am a big-big fan of the trashbin liners, as well, if I'm out of boxes or totes or another container for all of the "stuff & things".
The great part of it all is that after the first 4 "riddings" years ago, it's such a small project to do monthly! The bennies, however, are enormous! *wink*
We have lots of space, & we prefer it that way. We thought about purchasing all of the things that our culture says that we "should" acquire, but why? We would rather invest in a few quality items, invest in necessary tools for our work, & acquire all of the fun stuff to do our travels & avocations well & comfortably. That's what makes sense to us. So, "ridding" helps us to stay on track with our priorities & to avoid falling down the well of mediocrity.
Love & light to you, sister...Ceci
