Give Obama a break..

Poor Obama, I just don't understand why everyone is so quick to judge.  The government has been in charge of the flu vaccines, for YEARS and just because this brand new vaccine that no one even knows is safe yet, is slow coming out and getting out to the public doesn't mean their completely failing us.  Also you have to remember that all these decisions about the health care and the vaccines are a lot to do with congress, just like it was not only Bush's decision to go to war, congress has to agree to it.  I think the health care plan is an excellent idea I wish they would stop trying to water it down so much, so it would actually work like it's meant to.  I'm on medicaid, I started to recieve it when I found out I was pregnant because I couldn't afford insurance and pregnancy is a 'pre existing' condition and no one but the government would even talk to me.  I am a patient at one of the best OBGYN practices in my city and they don't treat me any different than the people who actually pay for insurance.  I have been on medicaid most of my life because my father was unable to work, he was disabled and on social security and we saved a lot of money because we didn't have to pay for hospital bills or doctor visits.  My sister has type one diabetes and she was always going to the doctor, and we never had to go in to debt, or go without for her to get all the medicine and devices she needed.  If it hadn't been for the government my father would have never been able to keep a roof over our heads or food on the table.  Has any one done any research on the government run health care systems in just about every other country in the world?  In Sweden, you get 6 months of PAID maternity leave, in Norway you receive 12 months PAID, and even men get maternity leave for about half that time, but it's better than none! It blows my mind how all these countries don't have massive amounts of debt because they're citizens don't have to pay obscene amounts of money to doctors and  to the hospitals and to the insurance company bastards that get to decide how sick you or your children are.  I am all for Obama and for change, I think this country needs it, and I think people need to be more open minded about the whole thing so we can act like a united nation and support one another.  Even if this whole thing doesn't work out, which it will take time for this to play out the way it needs to because NO one can get something this big perfect the first time, at least we would've tried.  So many people in this world are going to be relieved to know they can go to the doctor when they're sick and take their children and not have to worry about going in to debt.  This is one of those times everyone needs to stop thinking about themselves and start giving some thought to the little people, the people that really need this to happen and the millions of people this will help, not just the maybe thousands that this will supposedly hinder.

I prefer Obama to Bush and I'm SO glad McCain and Palin aren't in office, that's all I have to say about it.  *shudders*

I agree that something needs to be done to the health care system, but I totally disagree that universal health care is what needs to be done. Other countries with universal health care might have great maternity leave, but unfortunatelythey also have a 25week wait for heart surgery (Sweden), and 900,000 people waiting for admission to National Health Service hospitals (Britain). Personally I think if the government and health care personnel would sit down and through out ideas, a solution could be found that would benefit everyone.

What needs to be done is a crackdown of the pharmaceutical and malpractice insurance companies.  Doctors charge so much because they're getting charged a lot or have to pay a lot of overhead.  Some doctors can no longer afford to be in business because of their overhead costs.   Prescriptions cost so much because the pharmaceutical companies have been allowed to charge an arm and a leg for drugs.  Medication doesn't cost as much in Canada or Mexico because the pharmaceutical companies don't charge as much.  And something needs to be done about the EXISTING health insurance companies charging so much money.  I think there is so much medical fraud out there, which only makes the problem worse.

I hate that the government doesn't try to actually solve the problem at hand, but instead wants to come up with a new "band-aid" solution.

I thought that was only if you opt out of having ANY coverage at all....AND....I thought that individual states could vote to opt out?

Under Obama, we're toast.  Get ready for socialism, ladies.  You're about to lose all your rights and freedoms and you won't even see it coming.

Hell ya!  I agree with you 100%!  I have known to many people personally (my husband and mother) that are in desperate need of health care but can't get it because of the insane costs.  People die everyday from the most simple ailments because they couldn't afford a trip to the doctor and the antibiotics to fix it.  It disgusts me that our country has let it get to this point.  Even Cuba has better health care for their people.  Other countries laugh and make funus because of our health care system.  I think people need to do more research before they start bashing Obamas ideas.  Everybody is so quick to jump on the band wagon and follow and believe what other people are telling them.

Obama is our President and we, the people. elected him to be just that.   Never in our history has this country bashed a President so much and it's ridiculous.  Parents are brain washing their kids into hating him.  Talk about teaching disrespect!  Hopefully this new generation is smarter than the old and they wilI see through the lies.  I hate to bring up race but I'm sure that if Obama was a white man he  wouldn't be getting half the scrutiny he is.  This country is full of racist bigets and it sickens me.

We need change in this country and he seems to be the only person who has stepped up to the plate to see that that change happens.  I can't see it getting any worse than it already is so why not try something new?

from my understanding it's anyone who wants to keep private insurance will have to pay this, and if the choice is ind states to opt out, what difference does it really make, the decision isn't left to us to choose anymore. KWIM?
