Question: Would you buy him the trains, or would you buy the fire and police station?

My son is 4, and has just about always been a "train" kid. His collection is mainly GeoTrax, and he adores them - it's part of his morning routine to build a new track every day.
Lately, though, he's been into firetrucks and firefighters too. He was a fireman for Halloween. He knows exactly where the fire station in town is, and announces the status of the trucks whenever we pass by. They're almost as exciting as trains.
For Christmas, we've been trying to figure out what to ask Santa for...

Both are about the same price, and he'd like both just fine. Sometimes he says he wants more trains, other times he says he really wants the fire/police station. I know he'd be excited for the trains on Christmas morning, and he might even be thrilled with them. I know he'd play with them, and they wouldn't sit in a corner somewhere. If that station were under the tree Christmas morning, his eyes would light up...but I just don't know how much it would get played with. What would you do?
That fire station looks pretty awesome! Could you have the grandparents buy the Geotrax set and you/Santa get the fire station?

I like the firestation...he might enjoy a change, and still would have the trains to play with that he already has!!

The grandparents are all single, and tend to buy conservative and practical gifts, or I so totally would ask them. It would make things a lot easier...but the most I can expect from them is a good set of building blocks. Nothing as cool as a fire/police station or GeoTrax. ;)
When is his birthday? Could you buy the firestation for Christmas and wait for his birthday for the train sets?
My 3 year old picked the Geotrax. He has tons and loves them. The Police/Fire Station is like a doll house for boys and my son rarely plays with his sister's doll house.
My now 5 year old is also train and basically any kind of "rescue hero" crazy. He would totally play with the fire station and in fact I may look at it closer at a store and buy one for HIS Christmas. We have a couple of friends who are firefighters and he has toured their fire station a couple of times so that may make a difference. He is constantly making our home a fire station and running through making alarm sounds, lol this might at least contain it a little.
