My son is about 20 months old and is truely interested in potty training. He has gone both #1 and 2 on the potty ring on the big toilet many times. He will pull at his diaper when he gets it wet or dirty and we can even ask him if he needs to go potty and he will run to the bathroom and try to climb up on the toilet. I really think that if we really dedicated ourselves to watching him and putting him on the potty regularly he would be potty trained in no time. My only problem is that I can't find any little boy underware small enough for him! The smallest I've ever seen is 2T. I don't want to just put him in pull ups because those still feel like diapers and I don't want to pay for them either. I know people have potty trained their kids even younger than he is. What do I do when he is ready to potty train but I don't have many options on what to have him wear??
Honestly, I don't think there's a thing as too early once they hit a year old.
My mom had all three of us children potty trained shortly after we learned to walk. As long as everyone is patient, I think things will work out. :)
I plan on buying my daughter a potty for her first birthday and putting her on it every single time I go potty with or without results I don't care. I just want her to get used to the potty. I won't actively try to potty train her until she's about 15 months. I'm gonna go to a potty training class that starts at 15 months for a few days with their method to help a little bit. If it fails, I'll try again at 18 months and then at 24 months.
I believe there's never any harm in introducing the potty to a child 12 months and older. :) You never know. They may surprise you! I would use diapers until he fits the pull ups or just start trying underwear anyway if you don't mind the wash up and the mess.

I started pottying training both of my kids at 12 months didn't work but when ever I went to the bathroom I brought them with me. I had DS potty trained fairly early though I don't remember much of potty training him I had DD potty trained by her 3rd Bday.

My oldest daughter was completely potty trained at 21 months old. She was little bitty, but we still had to use the 2T underwear on her because it was the smallest we could find. Sometimes you can find the thick cloth underwear. They might fit a little better.

DD is 21 months and we've started training her.
Buy some padded training underwear and some plastic underwear to go over them. That's what I've done. Gerber makes them.

Do they sell those plastic underwear at target/walmart? or the training underwear? I've never seen those.
My little girl is 20 months now and i potty trained her in less than a week. Straight to panties. She has been trained a month now and no accidents and doing great. I use the 2t panties and washed them and they shrunk a little.. they are a little big but you gotta do what ya gotta do. She is only 22 pounds so she is a little one.

My DD was peeing on the potty at 18m old. By 20m old she was in undies all day. I got a timer and set it for every 30 min. When the timer went off she knew she had to go and get on the toilet. As far as the undies go , sorry not much help there. DDs where baggy on her for awhile.

I would go straight to underwear, not padded ones. They are similiar to diapers in the snugness and feel and could delay training. I got some of the plastic things to go over her panties once we went out but all it did was make her booty sweat. Waste of money. I just stayed home for 3 days straight and concentrated solely on training her. After that she was trained and didnt need any backup. I threw away those plastic covers. They had to be uncomfortable..
