Cleaning hairspray buildup

Hello!  I'm not sure If this is the right place to ask this or not, but I'm trying.  I clean a hair salon every week.  The owner just asked me if I knew of anything that could get the hairspray buildup off of the back and arms of the chairs (that you sit in to get your hair done).  I have used just regular cleaners, but this buildup is probably 10 years or more and that doesn't work.  Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Straight rubbing alcohol will get it gunky enough that you can then just use regular cleaners to clean it off. I have had to clean it out of this bathroom once before where everything was covered from years of someone overspraying hairspray. Even the pipe that goes up to the back of the toilet was covered.

Definitely rubbing alcohol.  I just used some on my bathroom floor to remove hairspray buildup and it worked really good.
