My son is 10 1/2 and is in the 5th grade he has Health Class in school and he does not like it as I imagine any boy at his age does not . At the end of the term they show a movie discussing sex They told the parents that we could have our child not attend the movie if we did want them to. I would like him to see it but he is nervous and wants me to write a note saying he can not see it. IDK what to do ? Do i have the "talk" with him before the movie to ease his "fears" ? Is he to young for the "talk" ? What age did you have the talk with your sons ?

** For everyone who said he is not to young and said you have talked to your 6 yr olds about it the Topic of sex ed is pretty wide. So I am wondering if you told your 6yr olds about erections.inserting into the vagina ,semen all of it or just about Puberty and how their body changes. My son has never expressed any interest in the topic until the school started teaching it he has always known the correct names for the body parts. Am I the only one that thinks 6 is to young for the penis in the vagina talk ?

My DD is 7 and she already knows how everything works. I honestly don't think kids are ever too young, if you give them the knowledge early on and they grow having a full and open understanding it's less likely to cause problems in the future.

I will be starting earlier than that for DD to learn how the body works.  Wont be giving her the play by play kind of info until later.  The movie may be a good bridge for you to start talking to him about that part of life.

My daughter is 10 and already knows about it. She asked I told her. I started my period when I was 11 so, I figured it was about time to talk to her about stuff like that. And she is very open with me now.

10 is not too young. My DD is four and I plan on telling her how everything works when she is 7 unless she starts asking question sooner.

I do want him too ask whatever he wants I think it is more awkward because he is a boy.

Also, if nothing else, kid’s reaction to sex is hilarious. After we had our first talk she sat there (you could see her putting 2 and 2 together because we’d just had a baby) and just stared at me for a while and then dramatically threw herself to the ground and started going “EWWWWWW mama! That is so gross! Icky poor Una (her baby sister)!!!!” while rolling around covering her eyes.  You can’t put a price on moment like those.
