My babie is having his 1st birthday on March 19th. im already planning it cuz i dont want to wait till last minute to do everything. its gonna be mainly family and friends here just a few people. but i am wanting to do the tunka truck theme he loves his lil tonka trucks and cars. for christmas we had bought him a lot of tonka chuck and friend cars and trucks and he plays with them everyday. i need help with either ideas or websites or something.... i want to get a cake specially made for him and also to go with the cake i want to make dirt and worms with oreos cookies, puddint and gummii worms. its to cold outside to do anything outside so it will have to be inside and at our house. so i need help. it was easy planning his 1/2 birthday that we gave him when he turned 6 months old. we had it at a park and made the cake ourselves.. but i want his 1st birthday to be really special..
My son's 2nd birthday was tonka truck themed. I'd just get a little truck and make him his own personal cake in that. My son can't have a lot of sugar so I made him his own cake for his 2nd birthday in another truck and he loved it :)
If it's just going to be family and friends I'd just pull out some toys for the kids to play with. What ages are the kids and how many? You may be able to do some crafts and such as well. Fill some tubs with water for them to play in (just provide bottles, cups, etc for them to use). Fill another tub with flax seed for them to drive tractors in (used to do this at the preschool I worked at).
Hmmm I would love to help u out because i design n decorate cakes but we live in different states. My advice is to see if you have an outlit where u can buy different types of cake pans I know there are truck one out there. I can at least give you the website I use to order my pans for special occasions that I use. http://www.wilton.com/ I have done one in the form of a dump truck i used crushed gram crakers for the dirt . Oreo cookies for the wheels and of course gummie worms. The website is packed with ideas. Good luck. Hope this helps,
Here's a bump for ya. My son's birthday is March 16. I'm almost done making the invitations. His cake is going to look like presents stacked on each other (my mom makes cakes). Maybe you could make the cake look like a road and put some cars on it. Or like a construction site with dump trucks.
Quoting AM-BRAT:
BUMP. Have you thought about attempting to make a Tonka cake yourself? Or advertise on CL that you need a cake decorator?
i have seen a couple cute tonka cakes at walmart that they can do if i cant get that done then my gmas friend can make a cake for him.
