sad excuse for a human

Recently it has been brought to my attention that certain people find it funny when a child is traumatized by an event. I think that's sad. What happened to protecting children? Yes, my little sister was traumatized at a zoo a few years back. Maybe she's more caring and sensitive to sick insane animals than the rest of the population. That thought scares me. Has everyone been so desensitized to things of that nature that they think it's funny if it bothers a child? Makes me wonder what the world is coming to. Then again, people often disappoint me on a daily basis out and about and on certain web sites.

Look at the zoo post. She got feedback on a reply she made and apparently got her feelings hurt.

big difference between hurt feelings and being appalled by others lack of regard for children's feelings

I honestly think you're over sensitive about the situation. Like most people stated, animals aren't "caged in" how can that even be traumatizing? What's traumatizing is seeing someone get mauled by a tiger and that's your favorite animal!

Tha zoo is a place to go and observe the habitats of animals. Schools take kids to the zoo all the time because it's actually educating. Plus, once again, they have a habitat, not cages, so kids will be able to have a general idea of what it's like to be that animal, how they live and stay safe at the same time!

If you think your child would be traumatized, just explan to him/her that the animals are wild, and can cause danger to people so we have to keep a distance from them and that their "boundaries" are placed to protect us, not harm the animal. My kids think the zoo is cool, and my DD would own one herself if she could, she loves animals to death and never was traumatized by seeing them within boundaries, she enjoy the opportunity to see them period!

My son has a great fear of water and would be traumatized if we took him to a water park. There is no need to make everything a big deal or a serious thing...You could have just said "No" and moved on...But you had to keep going back making it a HUGE deal.

I think you are being too dramatic.  No one found it funny your daughter could be traumatized, it is funny that you would take it to that extreme.

Ha Ha who needs Jerry Springer, when you can log onto Cafemom and see women fight over the simplest of things like a trip to the zoo
