A learning experience.

So I did the Autism walk yesterday, and it really put things into perspective for me. I didnt realize the severity of some of the levels on the spectrum. It made me realize that it could be a lot worse with Paige.

I learned so much about Autism yesterday, and I also learned about a lot of local resources that can help with therapy groups, books etc.

I am so glad I went and I had a great time!

 AWWW! Thanks!

I dont know how many times I had to hold back tears yesterday. It was rough at times, and Paige was asking so many questions about autism. Some I answered, some I didnt have an answer.

That is so wonderful!!!  I wish there was more awareness out there.  I feel like in the recent years, it has been getting better, but it is still a long journey ahead.

I didnt know anything about autism, until people started asking me if Paige was autistic. I started researching, and I was absolutely sure. So it took some time but we got our diagnosis this past January. It was hard, and I wish people would understand, but they dont. I have spent many of times crying about what I was going to do, and how I was going to do it, and I finally feel like I am making headway. Especially in my family, they know nothing about it.

((hugs)) Best wishes to you and your family.

I have been looking forward to this walk for 2 months. It hit me like a ton of bricks how lucky I really am. My heart goes out to everyone that has a "special needs" child. It can always be worse, all we can do is pray it gets better.
