I'm not and so I'd know he was speaking the truth. He's not the same either.

People change a lot over the years. It'd be crazy to think you're the same after 2+ years --- esp. if you got married under 20 years old ya know?? Most people change  quite a bit throughout thier teens and 20's. Some even in thier 30's.

Not usually HUGE HUGE changes but.....

enough to say " babe...you're  not really the same person anymore"

And having kids, changing lines of work, getting married instead of just being a couple, losing loved ones... those kind of things can REALLY make a person change in leaps and bounds.

My ex-husband DID say that.  I told him , "you are right, I am not the same pregnant 23 year old that you married.  I am a fed-up 31 year old who has had it with your shit and I won't put up with it".

I kicked his sorry ass out, shortly after this conversation.

I'd say "DUH!" I was 21, a college student, childless, never given any freedoms, and still lived at home. Of course I've changed!

ask what changed and if we can fix it.

I wouldn't be surprised, because he is not the same man I married either. People evolve and change over time, it would be really sad if I was the same person I was in my early 20's now that I am in my late 30's.

I am not, I was 16 when we got married five years ago we have both changed a lot but we still love each other the way we are.  People change over the years, it's normal.
