Will This Change Your Diet Pop Consumption?

Just as you were starting to feel virtuous for having switched from sugary sodas to low- or no-calorie substitutes, a new study comes along suggesting that diet sodas might be bad for your head and your heart.

The study, which followed more than 2,500 New Yorkers for nine or more years, found that people who drank diet soda every day had a 61 percent higher risk of vascular events, including stroke and heart attack, than those who completely eschewed the diet drinks, according to researchers who presented their results today at the American Stroke Association’s International Stroke Conference in Los Angeles.

It still comes as a surprise to me that people dont realize diet anything is bad for you.   If i am going to have soda i will do regular soda or a can of natural soda which uses cane sugar and no added caffeine rather than the corn syrup/caffeine added combo.  I usually prefer home blended sweet tea or lemonade though for beverages.

 Nope.. I will stick with my DIET COKE... and love every minute of... there a report to every thing... I can find one to disclaim the one you posted... so it doesnt matter... everything in MODERATION!!! Except exercise then you need to pour your life into... Geez... I wanna go back to the day where didnt matter what you put in your mouth.

I don't drink soda. If I do is maybe 1-3 times a month.

I don't drink diet crap anyways. Its horrible for you. Artificial sweetener should be banned before ppl worry about corn syrup and sugars.

I agree. And we wonder why so many ppl end up fat and sick in the end ........ yeah lets shove ourselves full of a man made nasty chemical ...... Its tastes nasty anyways. No way would i drink or use it. I love sodas with Cane Sugar. Supposedly they DO make Coke with Cane sugar but its for Kosher only and hard to find.

I gave it up over 2 years ago when I was 100lbs. heavier. If I want it now, I buy a 20oz. bottle in the check out lane and run an extra mile that evening to work off whatever I drank. I never enjoyed diet and never got the hype about anything diet it in anyway.

NO. I knew it was bad for me anyways. I drink it because it tastes good, not because I think it is healthy.
