OMG Wolf attack-not funny at all

Our friends who are fellow hounds hunters were camped over the weekend. They were in an area near ours. Where they went we could get to from our area with a bit of a jaunt.

Anyway. They had their hounds with them. 3 were asleep in the dog box still and the older 2 lead hounds were out tied up to a tree. The family went for a walk to pick some berries. (it's that time around here)

when they got back the 2 dogs tied up had been killed. Wolves came into their came and killed their dogs.

Just posting to post. I needed to tell somebody. Get it off my chest. I couldn't even imagine losing any of my hounds. They are like my children.

I can't imagine leaving my dog tied to a tree.

Those poor dogs, their deaths could have been prevented.

Hounds have a natural instint to wander on a scent. They get put on long chains. It's not like they are choaked up to the tree.

I am so sorry.  It must be a terrible feeling. And worse that the dogs were tied and couldn't run away.

I'm well aware of hounds, and their natural instincts :)

I'm also well aware about wildlife (wolves, cougars, grizzly bears, coyotes etc.) and their natural instincts.

A few little hounds tied to a tree (with no change of escape) is a nice little snack.

Our dogs come with us when we leave our campsite.
