Ok, long story short, my son is not my ex's husband and his dad wants to get his name changed. I live in OH but he was born in MI.

Who do I call to get this going?

Thanks ladies!

You will have to go through the court.  I would contact an attorney first.

We've done that and have a court order to change it but were told we have to go thru MI in order to change it.

I suppose then you would need to contact the social security office and office of vital records and statistics.

Speaking from knowledge and experience here!

You will have to go to MI because that's where your child was born.  You will also have to get bio-dad to also agree on the name change.

FYI...

They will require a court order showing the change.

We have a court order. Bio-dad really wants this done. My ex-husband is the one on the bc but he's not the dad. We found out in April for sure.
