HELP!!! 8TH GRADE science project!!! Making a solar system model.

My daughter has to make a model of the solar system for school.  Can anyone please tell me where to get the supplies for this? Has your child had to do one yet? I want her to get an A+ on this, to bring up her grade. Is this thing hard to make? I have seen them back when I was in school and they looked horrible.

What supplies would be the best for making this? any tips or advice?

thank you ladies :)

Wire coat hangers, Styrofoam balls of varying sizes, paint and some kind of base to which you can affix the sun. Paint each ball the "appropriate" color for the planet it represents, and the sun yellow/Orange. Straighten out the coat hangers, cut them to varying lengths, and use them to attach the planets to the sun. You can get all of the supplies at Michaels, or any other craft store.

My son did one last year for a 4th grade homeschool project. He used Styrofoam balls, wire, paint & a coat hanger.

Yes my daughtr did hers like in 5th grade.  I went to walmart they have the whole kit there to put together she is now in 7th grade i just got paint of the colors we needed but some kits already have the paint for it.  Just chek around  like walmart, kmart or even a crafts storeand its not really hard to do but time consuming if she wants good grade. good luckl

WalMart has everything you need. they even have a kit you can buy with everything in it. It is in the arts and crafts section and should be where you find the white and green styrofoam balls that people use for decorations.
