How do you get a baby to take a longer nap?

My 5mo will take short naps during the day 30 minutes tops if it is in his crib. If we are driving or he is in a swing they will last longer. I know he needs to sleep longer. He is still fussy and tired when he wakes up. He was taking four naps now I'm trying to get him to take 3 because he is starting to stay awake longer. How do I get the nap to last longer?

Maybe try not picking him just soothing him while he is still in bed maybe he will go back to sleep.

I try that. It worked the other day until my 4yo woke him up :)

I have him on an eat-play-sleep routine since he was born. He doesnt act hungry before he goes down. I really don't want to feed him if he isn't hungry. The whole routine takes 3 hours. Maybe I'll try it next nap. I just don't want to over feed him. What routine did you have with your LO?

Well, i don't know the particulars of whether you bf or bottle, any solids, etc. if you'll pm me I'll tell you how I got longer naps.

The ones that you love the most go away to soon, the others just never go away...

He might not need 3 naps. My son only ever took one nap.
