I need some advice on proper wording on xmas card, for a family firend who's recently widowed?

I would just want someone to be straight with me and I wouldn't want people to dance around the issue. How about something like "I know that this Christmas is going to be tough on you and I just wanted to let you know that I am here for you and I will be missing so-and-so right along with you."

I agree with this except for the very last part.

That irritated me to no end when people would say "I know how you feel". I know it isn't exactly worded that way but it could come off that way.

Maybe something like "and I want you to know you and ****are both in my thoughts.

I would just keep it simple.  Merry Christmas.  Thinking of you especially this year.
