Would you let your 16 yr old be driven to the show with another teen driving?

Okay, first, in our state we have what is called a graduated drivers license, it has 3 levels. The first level, teens cannot drive without parent. On the second level, a teen can only drive with one other teen in the carNo more than one, under 21-year-old passenger UNLESS: Passenger is an immediate family member Driving with a parent, legal guardian, or designated adult over 21 Traveling to, from, or in the course of employment Traveling to or from an authorized activity Cannot drive between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. UNLESS: Driving with a parent, legal guardian, or designated adult over 21 years Traveling to, from, or in the course of employment Traveling to or from an authorized activity (authorized activity means to or from a school related activity.) More than once, my dd asked if she could go out with one of her friends driving, and 3 other passengers. They want to go to the movies. I have said no. My husband disagrees. He thinks we should allow her, that it will teach her independence. I think we should not allow her, it will teach her to follow rules. Right now, dh and dd are acting as if I am ruining her life. Would you let your kid go?

2 moms liked this

So, are you asking if you think you should follow the law?  If so, yup!  When our dd learned to drive we adhered to the rules.  She didn't even ask if she could disobey them, she knew what the answer would be.

Follow the law. I would let her be the only rider if friend had been driving solo 4 months no tickets, no accidents.

THANK YOU!!!! I have no support at home about this one and I guess I wanted some reassurance that I am not "ruining" our dd social life. (I know I'm not, but they're pissing me off acting like I am crazy not to let her go)I am disheartened that the girl who is driving parents would even allow it. She just got her license. Last friday, she drove friends to the show. It was a 10 pm show, so there's another infraction because of the curfew.

If that's the law, that's the law.

Does the parent know of are you assuming? If so I would probably talk to the parent if this was a close friend of my dd. I to agree just wondering cause kids don't always do what they are told.

Yes, I am pretty sure the parents know. Unless  she is lying about how many passangers. I should check that out.
