Finchinal Aid Update

I'm so upset, I can't go to school because I owe $600 and I was told it would be $200. Now I have no way to pay either and no one has money I can barrow. The reason I am upset is because I was told that DSHS would help me pay for it, I am trying to go to school so I can get a job so I wont be on food stamps/ cash assistance anymore. I just feel like someone said they'd pay it and now they wont. I have to drop out and start working becuase someone wont do what they said they would. I just need some up lifting words. I can't even registar for next quarter becuase of it all. All I want to do is cry.

Update: Went to my school and spoke to the people who help me with dshs and they want me to pay $244 of the $617, and then everything will be okay. Now I have to still figure out how to pay it but at least it's not $600.

The school I work for offers low monthly payment plans and a grant to qualifying military spouses. Maybe try a different school bc ours do not mind if you owe other places.

Why would they? Not being rude but just curious. I've never heard of such a thing.

Because to seccusfully complete my reqiured hours they can do that, because fasfa (which is what i am getting right now) is federal and cash assistance help if state. All I know is because the two are slightly different they can help, they also didn't and haven't paid any tution for me so far.

I know someone who had to drop out of school her last semester because of budget cuts for financial aid. Meanwhile we are giving it to illegal immigrants. Great, to from the citizens to give more to them!

So your pell grant hasn't paid out or you're expecting social services to pay? If its snout your pell grant if may not have dispersed yet or you may have forgotten to sign it etc. Also, are you still in school?

I'm trying to stay in school, but today I started looking for a job because of the "crap" and my fasfa is there waiting for me everything is set to go after I pay $600 dollars that I guess I"m suppose to find out of my ass. I thought that dshs was suppose to help with things like this guess I should never expect anyone to help me unless I see it in action. But I'm hoping tomorrow all will change once i tell them about the $600 because they think it's $245.

There are lots of resources for school money. Have yo applied for any scholarships? In the mean time, you may want to shop schools if the financial aid office is unwilling to work with you on just $600!

Try Fastweb, Cappex Scholarships, Scholarship Zone, etc. there's lots of money out there. Some of it's fairly easy to get too, you just have to look for it.  Good luck and hang in there, I am a student too and I know it can be frustrating.
