SPOKANE-- Spokane Police have arrested 26-year-old Tyson J. Romaneschi and charged him with 1st Degree Assault of a Child after x-rays of his infant daughter showed multiple broken bones and injuries sustained since her birth two months ago.
SPD Major Crimes Detectives began investigating this case on Monday when the infant girl was brought to a Spokane urgent care clinic.
The infant's mother, Romaneschi's girlfriend, said the child had a fever and needed medical attention.
The child was transferred to a local hospital where doctors discovered multiple fractures in various stages of healing, indicating the injuries had been sustained over the past two months since her birth. Doctors determined the injuries were not consistent with accidental injuries.
X-rays showed fractured ribs, arms, hands, legs and feet.
Through interviews with multiple witnesses, SPD detectives gathered significant evidence to suggest Romaneschi had injured his daughter. The child's mother was determined by detectives not to be a suspect.
Detectives were concerned Romaneschi might flee the area and asked patrol officers to look for Romaneschi. SPD Ofc. Dan Cole located Romaneschi on a routine traffic stop near Wellesley and Mayfair. Ofc. Cole arrested and booked Romaneschi into the Spokane County Jail for 1st Degree Assault of a Child.
Police questioned the father, Tyson, who told detectives Ellyana would go to sleep quicker when she was crying, so he would make her cry on purpose.
Most neighbors on Tyson's block wouldn't go on camera but say they have had many problems with the family, and don't want any retaliation.
Katherine Smith lives next door to Romaneschi and is shocked and saddened about Ellyana's injuries.
The infant is in protective custody.
I can't even think straight right now. Why would anyone think this is ok to do to anyone, let alone your infant child???
If I was the cop, after the guy said that I would have shot him in the nuts, looked at my partner and said, "Hated to do it but I told him to keep his hands where I could see them and he grabbed for something right?" and hopefully my partner would have said, "YUP."
Please oh PLEASE let a cop let slip his crime to another inmate....
Quoting MommyLehr:
Omg that's terrible I hope that bastard stays in jail!!! Unfortunately he probably won't get a very long sentence. Someone please break all of his bones!!
AGREED!
I could not imagine ever meeting someone who ever thought that was the way to raise a child.. I guess it's a good thing because I wouldn't think twice about shooting them between the eyes..
WTF?! Do you realize how freaking hard it is to break an infant's bones? They're all mushy at that age! That's some SEROIUS abuse. I hope he gets a long freaking time in jail, where he won't be treated very well at all. UGH!
