Do you like it? Do they cover well baby check ups? What are the downfalls of it? We are trying to get the PCP for our daughter with her old Pedi. We loved her and without military insurance for another 6 months (changing branch) we need some type of insurance for our little girl.

My daughter has Ky medicaid. It isn't our first choice but it's all she has right now. They don't cover anything elective, but they cover the needed stuff. The physicals once a year for the older kids, the baby checkups for the younger ones.

Also, not sure if it's everywhere or just here but things beyond normal visits need to be approved. We had to have her tooth fillings and her heart surgeries approved. No big deal.

Medicaid is like the awesomest ever cuz it's no copay and they cover doctors visits, well child exams, immunizations, dentists, etc. They may not cover some elective or specialists but what could be better than insurance u don't have to pay for?

have you looked into CHIP?  it's a remarkable program, covers higher income (those who don't qualify gor Medicaid) and since it's treated like "private" insurance, there are less restrictions.

There's a small copay and monthly bill here. They base it on income. I don't remember the amounts but depending on where your income falls, you pay between $2-$15 per visit and $15-$50 a month I think.
Still hardly anything though compared to other insurance.

My kids also have KY Medicaid...I did have to switch doctors which kinda bothered me cause I really loved our Peditrician but I can't really complain because I have four children and I don't know where we would be without it.  My oldest son was in the hospital three years ago with a staff infection right under his eye.  He was in there 4 days and I paid absolutely nothing for it.   I tell people all the time that this is the only perk to being poor...knowing that if my kids get sick I know that they will be taken care of.

My daughter is 5 and she is on Medicaid right now. It's been really good for us. They pay for check ups and the most I have ever paid for a prescription is $4. If it wasn't for Mississippi Medicaid, I don't know what I would have done. They also cover her dental and optical here.
