My daughter has Ky medicaid. It isn't our first choice but it's all she has right now. They don't cover anything elective, but they cover the needed stuff. The physicals once a year for the older kids, the baby checkups for the younger ones.
Medicaid is like the awesomest ever cuz it's no copay and they cover doctors visits, well child exams, immunizations, dentists, etc. They may not cover some elective or specialists but what could be better than insurance u don't have to pay for?
have you looked into CHIP? it's a remarkable program, covers higher income (those who don't qualify gor Medicaid) and since it's treated like "private" insurance, there are less restrictions.
Still hardly anything though compared to other insurance.

we have caresource for our daughter through medicaid and there is no copays or monthly payments and they cover her doctors visits and immunizations. so far thats all weve had to do
My kids also have KY Medicaid...I did have to switch doctors which kinda bothered me cause I really loved our Peditrician but I can't really complain because I have four children and I don't know where we would be without it. My oldest son was in the hospital three years ago with a staff infection right under his eye. He was in there 4 days and I paid absolutely nothing for it. I tell people all the time that this is the only perk to being poor...knowing that if my kids get sick I know that they will be taken care of.
My daughter is 5 and she is on Medicaid right now. It's been really good for us. They pay for check ups and the most I have ever paid for a prescription is $4. If it wasn't for Mississippi Medicaid, I don't know what I would have done. They also cover her dental and optical here.
