Help (Update In Pink)

Ok so I have 2 teeth that started hurting yesterday and have called my and got an app to get them pulled but my jaw is swollen and they are hurting so bad that it is making me feel like I'm.gonna be sick. What is something I can do until I can get them pulled to get some relief?

Sorry it took so long to get back on here. I ended up getting in to the dentist the next day. They gassed me so that they could get the 2 back teeth out. The swelling has gone down. I have had a few problems with the meds they put me on to clear up the infection. So far I the have given me 3 different ones trying to find one that I am not allergic to. I'm hopping the third time is the charm and I am not in the ER again because of the antibiotics if not then I guess that I'll just go on and rent a bad so that I know they have some where to put me when i brake out in hives or my throatcloses off again. Thanks for everything yall all suggested that would help. If you ever have a toothache my dentist told me to take an ice cube and rub it between my thumb and first finger and it will help with the pain. There is a nerve there that it somehow blocks the pain. It does help ease it off.

Get an antibiotic from your primary for the infection. He may also give you a pain med.

Not the dentist, your health provider or an urgent care.....let them know you have an appointment. Likely the dentist will write you one after the pulling if they are bad. If they are infected, then he may not pull them because the infection (absest) will not allow the numbing medicine to work. I know from experience. If your jaw is swelling, that is an infection and a general doc can write you a script.

sounds like an infection............a regular doc can prescribe that for you.......you can even go to the cvs clinics and  get it.

I ended up in the ER with a dental abscess. They prescribed antibiotic and pain meds

abcess....i had one last year unfortunately while i was in my 2nd trimester. Couldnt take anything but tylenol for the pain. Omg it sucked and was very painful! With it swollen the dentist may not pull it. They usually like for you to have antibiotics in your system for a few days to kill off some of the infection. Go to the er. They will numb your jaw for you..they did for me. And send you home with a rx for antibiotics. I wouldnt put it off long to get those in your system. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water and put a warm compress on your jaw. It will help the fluid drain. Just dont swallow the fluid. Hope you feel better soon!

I 'believe' Oil of Clove' might help. Take aspirin. Try the fullest strength Oral gel you can find. Ask the Druggist. Call and see if your Dentist or Primary care Doctor will call in a presciption for an 'antibiotic(?)...and pain.

also cold compresses to that side of your face.

the swelling is infection...

Mine would do that for me.

I would go to an urgent care until you can see your dentist. If you cant di that Maybe peroxide will help. Mix 1/4 water with 3/4 peroxide and swish it where it hurts. I'd do that a few times a day. I'd also take some PM's if you can and just sleep. I had to wait four days one time and my mom gave me Vicodin so I slept through it all. I was only 16 though and with out children. I ended up needing a root canal and it was also very infected.

You might try Advil for the inflammation but until you get into the dentist I wouldn't take anything else - oragel might relieve the pain but I sincerely doubt it.
