work :will my question be unprofessional and unwelcome?

I am on an unpaid leave so I have a lot of time to think. The unpaid leave is for Post partum depression and I had originally asked until the end of May as I didnt know how long it was going to take me from mid Dec to recover.

I am now ok to work but my supervisor had to put a temp under a contract until June 1. That's cool with me as LONG AS I HAVE A JOB from june 1.

The email I received from human resources indicates that it is a leave with return rights to work.

However, I am concerned and today I saw an opening for my field.

So i have been thinking it if is ok to show my weakness and contact human resources to ask if I really have a job for June .

Would that me inapprorpiate? would it make me look bad? like I dont trsut them? would it just sound like a responsible mother trying to make sure I provide for my son?

I really have no idea

I know out HR lady would share this with the executive director

any ideas on this?

thanks

Tana

I think I'd call and just mention, "Hey, I saw you have an opening for the same position that is mine.  I'm available to return to work now and have been medically released." and see what they say.

I would call & just let them know you have been medically released & ask them if they would like you to wait til June 1st because of the contract or if their is any way you could come back early.

That way your asking without asking, and if they say you can come back early great !

IF you don't want to go back early.. Call them & ask them if they need a letter from your doctor releasing you from the medical leave for when you return June 1st. Basically again intending to ask that you are definitely coming back June 1st without asking.

Don't say anything. Pretend like you don't know; obviously you told them in advance what the issue was and they agreed. It was a necessary leave and they shouldn't fire you for that; tell them your doctor prescribed it. Act shocked.. They have some explaining to do. Ultimately tell them you refused other job offers cause you assumed you had your old position

I would call and ask. Be polite about it of course. You have a right to know.

Oh, sorry, my misunderstanding for sure.  lol

If YOU aren't under contract to return, then I'd say go for it.  Nothing wrong with interviewing for another job... if nothing else, it keeps  your interview skills sharp. ;)

I'd show up in person and talk with the people in charge, just a "checking in to see how everyone is doing" type conversation.

Depends on if you are still covered under FMLA or not, if you are not covered then I would ask. If you are covered then you should be fine.

That's a long time to be out o work and companies are cruel these days, they may start to think they don't need you after being out so long and decide to replace you, if that happens I think it's smart to have a plan B
