Postpartum depression?

I had postpartum depression for literally two years. I remember feeling so overwhelmed and alone like no one felt this bad. I almost resented my ds for changing my life dramatically. Ds is 4 now and it went away. I can't see my life without him. How many of you had postpartum and how was it, and how long did it last. (I never thought about killing my ds or anything crazy btw I was just depressed)

I didnt know Geodon was for bipolar. I was on that before. I went off of it because I had difficulty swallowing and it caused my pupils to be constantly dilated. Im on Viibryd now.

Is it possible that you could be bipolar? I just found out I am and am on a med called Geodon and it was a

Saving grace! I was feeling bad again recently and realized maybe not everything was postpartum.

I had postpartum depression after each child(3 total). For the other 2 it took a little over a year. I currently have postpartum depression. My baby is 6 months old. And having thoughts of harming yourself and/or your child SOMETIMES happen. And it does not mean the mother is crazy. I had had those thoughts. They scared the sh** out of me. I didnt want to think that way. I got on the right meds and do not have those thoughts anymore. Please no bashing. Thank you.

This is very helpful for me to hear. ;'( I have to wait until Monday to see my doctor.

I love Geodon! It has saved me and managed my super lows. It's an anti-psychotic they use for severe bipolar and schizophrenia disorders. And it
doesn't take weeks to work. It starts
immediately. My spirits burst up after
one dose! I take it 4 times a day to
level me out all day long. I haven't noticed my eyes dilating. Although that has always happened to me my whole life my pupils constrict
And dilate not due to drugs. I get frequent headaches, possibly this has to do with my eyes. I notice no weight gain also! I was on Depakote
And it put 20lbs on me fairly quickly.

20 lbs? Wow! Maybe they put me on the Geodon for the antipsychotic effect. Im not bipolar but I do have major depression. Im also on Lamictal and Seroquel. I may be sensitive to medications. I experience side effects with a lot of medications..and very easily.

I had mild postpartum after 2 of my kids. After another child, I had post partum anxiety, it was miserable.

Yep had it with my 3rd child. When he was 2 months old. Took me awhile to get over it. The baby wouldnt stop crying and dh was working 12 hr shifts and I had 2no older children plus I had my neice quite abit. I just became overwhelmed. Couldnt sleep, didnt eat. I wish I had gotten help sooner. It is a real illness. My dad told me basically after giving me a time magazine with an article on depression, to get over it . Anyhow I tried taking a bottle of tylenol p.m. but actually took 7jon and had to go into hospital. They actually gave me a buch mote oills

I had it after baby #3. It was hard. Baby wouldnt stop crying, I lost weight couldnt sleep. Just became overwhelmed. I yried taking a bottle of Tylnol p.m. but only took seven. Had to be hospitalized where they gave me a bunch more meds incliding something to help me sleep.. I slept like I never slept before. Yeah it takes awhile to overcome a major depressive episode it did me and my dr said you usually have it again if youve had it once. I never had any thought of hurting my childrrn though. I did cognitive behavior therapy which helps. Never had much luck with meds so im med free. I think getting excersize and diet and plenty of sleep helps. I always yhought I was supermom and did pretty much everything myself. You need to ask for help occasionally.
