Help! My Hair is Falling Out!!!

Ladies, I need some serious suggestions. After I had all three of my kids I had lost a significant amount of hair. Hormonal imbalances I am sure. But this time around I have lost hair in the most noticeable of places....on my right temple. It looks like that one side of my head has a receeding hair line!!!! I was morified when I noticed it this morning. I am scared that more hair on the left side is going to fall out too. Any suggestions on how to keep my hair on my head and hide the side that suffered loss :-(

Thanks!!!!!!

Hi & welcome,

There are some shampoos out there that help make hair appear thicker.  My mom likes Ovation, but there's also Nioxxin and some others that might help.

You might want to talk to your doctor too, sometimes after pregnancy, women experience thyroid problems that can affect things like hair loss.

I started taking prenantals again, I'm nursing so I figured it couldn't hurt. It seems to be helping with regrowth. Also, make sure your eating enough protein, that can contribute to the problem.

I agree with the ladies before me, vitamins and talk to the doctor. Good luck!

Sorry, no advice on covering it up. I'm so clueless about hair!

Could be a number of medical issues going on ie: thyroid problem, alopecia - I would certainly seek professional advice.

I would try natural remedies first. If it continues, I would then talk to the doctor about it.

It's embarrassing because were too young for this but use rogaine for women. My daughter threw me into a nervous break down the other week and a few days later my hubby noticed a perfect circular BALD spot in the middle of my head. I went to the doc and its alopecia. He prescribed 5% Rogaine for men, its about 20.00.

Because its alopecia he prescribed the strongest one and that's the men's formula. It was humiliating to pick it up but its sold over the counter also ( that way you can pretend its for hubby lol )

As for hiding it, my spot is in the backlog of my part line so I do a pony tail or flit different. Try flipping your hair to that side or sweeping your bangs to that side to cover it. Good luck mamas

What do you know about alopecia? Have you had any experiences with it? I was just diagnosed but I reduced my stress and my hair is filling in the bald patch. I know its an immune disorder where your immune system attacks the hair leaving circular bald patches. I think in my case there was too much of the stress hormone and my body attacked it, throwing everything out of wack.
My doc prescribed Rogaine for men but I didn't use it in hope the stress reduction would help ( I don't like using chemicals, especially on my hair) Luckily its filling in, but I'm worried about a relapse. I saw pictures that horrified me...

Try adding more protien to your diet. If you aren't getting enough your hair falling out is one of the signs. This can happen after major surgery or stress.
