My baby is nine months old. All of the sudden, my breast milk stopped coming in this evening. I have been pumping and nursing. It started to slow down this morning. I started a new job this week...my sleeping habits have changed a little....loosing a little more sleep. Stress has gone up a bit. Im flooding myself with water. I have an IUD and strange but I started my period this week. I havent had it in a couple months. Any advice??? I hope my milk comes back in.

It's because of your period - completely normal for supply to deep during that time. Stay hydrated and take a calcium/magnesium supplement until your period is over. Your supply will go back to normal :)

I had to take a prescription called domperidone. Worked like a charm.

some women have a decrease in pumping output around 9months on, or it won't put out any milk at all, and that is normal, try mother's milk tea and make sure you are not stressing...the only way to determine true supply is diapers should get at least 5-8 a day

Hi,

When I breastfeed my kids I used to buy Mothers Milk tea and it would help me produce more milk. I also avoided certain foods that are known for decreasing milk production.

My guess it is because of ypur period. It will return in a couple days.

It's probably the stress and lack of sleep. Those two things are huge in breastfeeding. I breastfed my son till he was two years old and I'm breastfeeding my three month old daughter now. I had the same trouble at times my milk seemed like it wasn't coming in at all and it would scare me to death. And every time it ended up being my stress and lack of sleep. You can drink tons of water and eat everything right but it all comes down to getting more sleep. I don't know anything about an IUD, maybe ask your doctor about that one. But try finding a way to get a little more rest when you can and see if it helps your milk come back in.
