I baby sat for 2 days and told the parents i couldn't handle them and that i wouldn't be able to continue. they were mean to my dd, among other things. i was told i would be paid last Friday. then i was told Monday. on Monday it was Tuesday. last night i texted the mother and got no response. same thing this morning.
what should i do next?

update
I called a lawyer. he said because i have a contract i can go online and file a claim on the department of labor and they will go after her for my money and then make her pay a fine ontop of it.

my new question os should i tell her im going to file or just file?

You should chalk it up to a bad experience.  It's not enough money to make a real stink about....you could call them every day for a week or so, but eventually they'll just tell you to stop harrassing them, and legally you'll have to.  Collecting your money could end up costing you more than they owe you.

I would let it go.

But you could write them a letter requesting your money an send it certified mail. Probably cost you about $4-$5.

What does the contract say about you canceling on them?

Unless you're willing to pursue legal action then the contract isn't worth the paper it's printed on.  You could take her to small claims court, you'd win with that contract, but it would end up costing you more than $168 so it wouldn't really be worth it, IMO.

I'd keep calling for the week, then I'd drop it.

Send certified letter and you can always include court costs in small claims

I would let her know you plan on filing if you don't hear back from them and they dont have money by Friday.

What does the contract say as far as you canceling on them and backing out ?
