Edit - he's still in his crib. He climbs out
I'd put him back in a crib, honestly. Sounds like he isn't ready for bed.
I would just be consistent- when he gets up, walk him back to bed every time, it might take a little while, but eventually he will get the idea that if he gets up he is just going to go back to bed. When he does stay in his bed all night, have some positive consequences for that- tell him what a good job he did and how proud of him you are.
mine son was like that when we first put him in a toddler bed, i think he hated it, slept awful and was always getting out, we got bunk beds for the boys now and he sleeps great, well alot better and he doesnt get up an walk around, it was a lot of getin up n putting him back to bed before.i would just be consisnent, or try a twin bed if he isnt in one already, my cousin had no luck with toddler beds with her dd but with the twin she sleeps through the night...its werid
Play Yoga music. It'll relax them. My 6 year old daughter would do the same until we started playing Yoga music. We put it on repeat so it goes on all night. Now she sleeps all night long. Also, just make sure he has a night light out and all his toys are out of reach so he has no choice but to go to bed.
Our 7 y/o son listens to subliminal music for 30 minutes and he falls asleep to it. This was provided by his therapist to help him calm down at night. He used to battle us for bed, screaming and pounding the wall on the way to bed and now he comes peacefully. He's Autistic.
We took out night lights. Even the dullest ones were too bright for my kids. If there was any kind of artificial light the kids would be awake. Once we took the lights out my kids seemed to go to sleep sooner and slept better.
I dont see reading on your list, have you tried reading bedtime stories? I hear that a routines help a lot too. We have a really loose routine at my house of dinner, bath (usually..not every single night though), playtime with mommy and daddy (hide and seek, climbing mt. daddy, jumping in the bed, etc.) then reading books...usually by this time, my little 17 mo old nugget is rubbing her eyes and sleep isnt far off. We also co-sleep though, and this seems to help all of us sleep through the night.
