Is she showing ANY interest at all? if not, she's not ready...if so, then maybe for now she is just fascinated with the toilet and how it works but has no idea of the concept of using it.    If she is not grabbing her crotch when she pees, or is not aware that she is peeing or pooping, then she's not ready.   18mos is a little young.

Look up 3day diaper free potty training. 18 mo is not too young actually better than waiting till they are 2 1/2 and stubborn. and don't make her sit every 20 min she will never get her bladder stretched enough to be night trained

She is probably just too young.  We tried potty training our DD just after she turned 2, and she just was not ready.  She did not end up potty trained until she was 3 1/4 during the day and then a few weeks later at night.

She is too young.  :o)

Signs of being ready for potty training are hiding when she needs to have a bowel movement, asking for a diaper change when she's wet/dirty, stays dry for longer and longer periods of time, is able to pull her own pants down/up, shows interest in what you are doing when you are in the bathroom,  etc.

Most children potty train between 2.5 and 3 years of age.

At this age I would simply leave her potty out where she has easy access to explore it, sit on it if she wants with her clothes on, etc.  I would buy some potty training board books and keep them available for her to "read".

Try again in 6 months to a year.  I have potty trained 5 children---the youngest I trained a child was 26 months, the oldest was 38 months.  The age a child potty trains is NOT a reflection of you as a parent nor is it a reflection of how "smart" a child is.  It's all about physical readiness and bowel/bladder control.

It's very dear to me, the issue of gay marriage.  Or, as I like to call it:  'marriage'.  You know, because I had lunch this afternoon, not gay lunch.  I parked my car, I didn't gay park it."

I wanted to add that potty training a child when they are ready is a very quick thing.  I have never spent more than a week, start to finish, in potty training a child.  ONE WEEK.  But I always waited until they were ready.

If you are having to take your child every 30 minutes to the potty in order for them to be successful then all you've done is potty train YOURSELF.  :o)    If you wait for her to be ready you won't be spending months on end potty training.

I 100% agree! My DD was ready before I was! By day 4-5 she was no longer having accidents. It was a great experience for both of us.
