What about a store influences whether you come back?
I thought about this when I read the coupon post. A store I go to always asks if I have any coupons, and I think this is such a nice thing to do, because I have walked out with coupons still in my bag. Something else is if I am greeted politely by the salespeople. This matters to me. What about you?
I agree with the sales people greeting you. I hate it when you walk through the whole store and no one has even acknowledged that you were there. Macy's by us is terrible about this. I'll wander through there and no one will even speak to me. I'll definitely go somewhere else if the customer service is not good.
I wrote a complaint about a grocery store where the people never spoke to me. I didn't want to self-checkout, so I waited in the long line to check out, and one of the employees motioned for the next person to come down there- so I did, but she had vanished. So I was stuck using self-checkout. I ran into trouble with an item, and the customer behind me said that I needed help, so she summoned the helper, who came over and took care of the problem and vanished. In my letter I said the whole time I was in the store, not one employeed spoke to me, and even the helper didn't even look at me- she walked up, punched some buttons, and left. I was used to interacting with a cashier- even if only how are you, paper or plastic? It was a cold experience.

Cleanliness and helpfulness. I hate it when you ask a store employee a question like if they carry an item, how much something is, where something is, etc. and they simply say "Oh, I don't know." Or "I'm not sure. You could ask that other employee over there. They might know." and no offer to find out. It drives me nuts when people do that.
As long as it isn't poor service or dirty. Atmosphere is really the biggest thing for me. Exceptional customer service is nice, but I usually like to just get in, do my thing, and get out.
