Hmm....I thought the VIN number should always be available? Are you buying through a car lot or a person?
Quoting brandi2781:Not weird at all. I would want it to do a carfax also!
Yup, absolutely get the VIN, and if they do not provide it keep looking. They obviously have something to hide.
Quoting stayathomemo271:I haven't looked at it yet doing that tonight but I want to know what I'm looking at when I go and look at it. And its from a private seller
Then for sure get the VIN and do a carfax report too.
Yea.........VIN numbers are visible from the front windshield, so you could even go on a Sunday to a car lot (when there are NO people) and get a few VINs and then get quotes on Monday from your insurance. We have done that before. Also, you should get the car's background (such as Carfax and such). BUT if it was wrecked and fixed without insurance it will not be posted on the report. Have fun looking!!!!
Oh.........and always take your child's car seat with you to make sure it will fit and have room like you want.
