Okay so my son is 27 months ...2 yrs old. He has CP (Cerebal Palsy). He is constantly asking questions like which color is that, what kind of car is that, how many is there, what happend, why, and the list goes on. His pediatrician says he taks like a 4 yr old but he moves, walks, runs, jumps etc like a 1 year old....so we were at Walmart and he had a dollar. he seen some flash card that were in a box with the letter "A" on it and he said "Mommy I want those" and points to them so after asking him which ones because there were about 6 boxes hanging there he picked 2 one with the ABCs and the other has Colors Numbers and Shapes. I agree to buy them. When we are checking out he says "hi" to the cashier and then hands her his dollor. she hands him his bag with his cards in it and he says "Thank you". and she tells me "Wow he is so small for his age what is he like 4?" I giggled and said "no he is a little over 2" and she says "oh wow he talks so good, so why push him with the flash cards?" I just said "He wanted them have a nice day" and left. Then when we got home we played with the flash cards. He sang his whole alphabet, counted to 10, and identified all the shapes : Circle, Square, Triangle, Rectangle, Oval, Heart, Star, & Diamond. I was excited so i posted about it to Facebook. and of couse everybody liked the status but a few people commented about "why are you pushing him to learn??"

OK my son goes to an Early Head Start during the school year, during the summer he is home with me and at my moms while DF and I work. No one is pushing him!!!! He LOVES to learn new things!!!! Why should i stop him???? UGGGHHHH I am so bugged that people think i am making him do these things! He wouldnt know his ABCs 123s or shapes if he wasnt ready to learn right????

vent over sorry!

I wish people would mind their business. He is your son and as long as he is healthy and happy who cares! It does not sound like you are forcing the kid to learn! My 3yo has been able to count to 20 and sing his ABC since he was 2 but no one cared because I was doing the unthinkable...potty training lol. How dare I start so soon.

I also got a lot of crap because he was so fat when he was a baby and everyone told me I was overfeeding him...All babies on my dads side are fat until there 2 then they get skinny.

People need to shut their faces.

Bravo Momma. You go. If he's asking the questions he's big enough to learn. My son with CP even struggled with speech, but boy was he smart. People couldn't see the smart because of the CP. I got the don't push him  a number of times. I smiled sweetly and said, he's pushing me, I can't seem to hold him back. They usually left me alone after that.
