To tie tubes or not?

I am unsure whether to tie them or not. I still want to have the option of having more kids. I don't like the idea of that descision being made for me. My doctor on the other hand thinks it's a good idea for me after this baby seeing as this will be my 4th c section. She says with every c section I have there is a higher risk to me and the baby. Possibly even a hysterectomy. Even knowing this I still don't want to do it. Couldn't I just do a vbac with next baby? What do you moms think? Do it or not do it?

Oh goodness, I was all prepared to say that if you have doubts don't do it. But my goodness FOUR! c sections?! If you live through this without major complications, you are blessed indeed. My sil almost died with her 3rd. And it's not like 4 kids is a small family....

That is a lot of surgeries in one area.  I had surgeries there 3 c-sections and 1 tubal reversal surgery.  I was never told I couldn't have another c-section.  I was also asked if I wanted a vbac with my third child.  So yes, there are dr's out there, it just depends on the situation.  You have to talk with your husband and dr and make and informed decision on what is best for you and your family.

Any time you have a c-section it is always a risk, there I am sure may be risk with a vbac also.  You have to look at the pros and cons and do what is best for you and your family.  In the future if you want another child then by all means DO NOT tie your tubes.  Yes, you can get the untied, it is expensive and it is NOT guaranteed.  It took me a little over 3 years of my tubes being untied to get pregnant.  She was considered my miracle child and then I had them retied.

Good luck to you and your decision!
