As a nurse in Dermatology, I know a few things about great child skin care, I'd love to help if any mom's need advice. In turn, we all have jobs-in the home or out- that lend us special skills as mothers! Let's hear some bits of advice we've learned on the job!? I'll start with a summer one..
Sunblock! The FDA does not yet regulate SPF, truthfully a sunblock does not go above about SPF 45, anything higher is a waste. The BEST sunblocks to look for, are ones with Zinc Oxide and/or titanium Diozide of 7% or higher( we like blue lizard). Apply every hour when out with the kids, and after waterplay!
So Teachers. Stay at home moms. bus drivers, chefs, Vets, AT&T saleswomen...speak to me!
Acne is starting pretty early now ah days, (thanks hormones) but dont panic. 11yo boys arent great with washing, so first get him on a daily routine of washing his face twice a day with an over the counter ance product, go with Clearasil, Neutrogena is very drying. If this doesnt help in about 1month, or you are already doing this, make a trip to the derm! He would most likely prescribe a low strength cream to be applied once a day. I love Duac as a prescription to start with!
Great idea! I'm a WAHM so my advice would be to other WAHMs - make sure you have a separate space for your work so you can "clock out" and walk away, rather than feeling like you're always at work. :)
I love this idea. I am a Parent Involvement and Volunteer Coordinator. My advice is if your child is struggling in school, don't hesitate to talk with the teacher and ask for advice. Also, since it is summer, check your local chamber of commerce or your city's website to find local events (often free) going on in your community. Many museum's offer free or reduced price days. Go out and explore your community with your children.
