I'm sure it'd be hard if he did too. Gl.
Pregnancy.
It gave me enough will-power to quit.
I quit while pregnant with DS1, then after having him stress got to me and I started again.
Then I got pregnant with DD1 when DS1 was 9 months old, and that made me quit again.
DD is 3 months old, an I havent smoked since I got her first positive pregnancy test.
DH still smokes, but willpower alone has been the key for me.
i just passed my 19 month mark of being smoke free :)
i had wanted to quit for a while, but really, i felt like it was impossible because i enjoyed it waaay to much. the only reason i wanted to quit, was because i couldnt afford it anymore. (here where i live the cheapest pack of smokes you can buy are $8.50) so yaa when ya smoke a pack a day..it got expensive! i also wanted to quit because i was about to have a new lil nephew!! and i know how my brother and his wife are, in that they wouldnt let me hold baby if i smelled like smoke.....nephew was born on dec 29...i quit jan 3rd. (which just happened to be one day before my bday on the 4th)
however.......the way i quit was because on jan 2 i woke up sick as a frickin dog!!! puking my guts out, diarreah, i had a cold omg, i was terrible!! and when i'm sick i dont really smoke, cuz it just made me cough more, and feel like puking.......soooo i decided to see how long i could go without a smoke..next thing i know it was 12 hrs....then 20 hrs......and then i decided to see how long it would take for someone to notice that i had quit......it took 6 days before people realized! and it was a great feeling to say "yaaa, i havent smoked in almost a week" and to quit the day before i turned 28 was a good feeling too!! :)
it WAS tough... breaking the habit was the hardest part......not having one when a commercial comes on...or when the washing machine is filling up, or when talking on the phone, while daughter was in the shower, on a walk, waiting for the bus, something in the microwave, cooking on the stove....all the lil "time wasters" that i had to figure what to fill that time with, was tough!! but its possible!! :)
my mom even said that once i quit i had more patience with things. i guess it was cuz before i was always rushed to do stuff so i could fit in a cigarette..
i keep track on facebook the amount of money i have saved...and the cigarettes not smoked...i just checked my totals.......i have saved $4127.96..and have not smoked 11008 cigarettes!! CRAZY!!
I quit while my dh still smoked. It was a spiritual miracle for me. An answer to prayer. Sounds crazy, I know. But I swear, that's how it happened. I just quit.
