My daughter hit her head and I need advice...

My daughter is 2. She was spinning trying to make herself dizzy and she fell and hit her head on the table. She hit the right side of her head. It is starting to swell a little bit and she is already bruising. I have an ice pack on her head. She has a small cut that is bleeding a little bit. I am not sure how deep it is. It is  a very tiny cut. She cried for about 2 minutes and now she seems like herself. My husband is in the military and is on duty right now. He thinks as long as she is acting normal then I shouldnt take her to the emergency room. I am not sure what to do. I am worried because she has a very small head and I don't want anything to be wrong. I would feel like the worst mother if something is wrong and I didn't take her in. I need advice on what to do. Her temperature is still normal and she is acting like nothing is wrong. Adve please!!

My daughter is a pro at head injuries. As long as its turning into a goose egg and she is acting normal with no vomiting she will be fine. Just keep her up for an hour or two. I've been to the er numerous times with dd, all said the same thing.

Thank you so much!! That made me feel better about staying home with her! It is my first experience with her hitting her head.

If she vomits or her pupils are different sizes then she has a concussion. Like the p.p. said keep an eye on her for an hr or 2. U also may want to wake her up a few hrs after she goes to sleep..to make sure she is alert and is aware of her surroundings. If she is very confused and not just sleepy that may also be a sign of a concussion. Plus u do want to make sure she can wake up. If not then call 911. Thats what I was told before. Hope this helps.

As long as it swells out (which generally means it's not swelling in puttin pressure on her brain) as long as she's not dizzy or puking and as long as she is acting normal keep her up for an hour and she'll be fine

My daughter hit her head at school. But she had a huge bump and bruise I personally took her to the er. It came out to be nothing but a bump. The doctor just said keep an eye on her as long as she was acting normal and didn't appear to be dizzy or tired she was fine...he also said if she went to sleep to wake her up after an hour and make sure she was coherent.

I would just take her to have a record that she was seen. When my ds hit his head I called my hubby's aunt her and her husband (ex EMT) told me he didn't need to be seen. Then hubby's bio mom called CPS and they had to investigate they said even if it don't need to be seen still take them for the record.

I agree with most of the pp. great advice ladies.
And way to go mama for being concerned for you LO. Some moms just don't care. If you're worrying, you're doing a good job. Hope everything goes well.
