Did your DH feed the baby?

One of my friends was complaining that her DH rarely feeds the baby. She is the one that gets up at night 2-3 times to feed him. It may get better because the baby is only 8 weeks old. He works FT and she is in school and works PT.  Why can't he help out with the feedings? My ex was a very light sleeper and I am a deep sleeper. Many times he would get up to feed DD and I wouldn't even wake up. My mom said my dad was the same way. He was a very light sleeper too. He would be up feeding me and my mom wouldn't even know. Why are some men so stubborn?

She pretty self sufficient.

My DH is usually the one that is up with DS at night. I'm a heavy sleeper, and don't even wake up sometimes.

Nope , not before solids at 7or 8 months. Well, my dd had one bottle of expressed milk at about 2 months and she was not interested! But we cosleep and ebf too, so how would he?!?! But both kids are so much daddy's girls that the whole idea that he needs to in order to bond is total bs to us!! If this kid has formula and they both work and she has school then he should take a night or two! For sure! There were fussy nights where dh left for work at 430 am and I would feed Gwen at 2 am and had been up all night and after she was fed he would take her and love on her and rock her and bounce with her so I could get a few hours, and I am a sahm!!! So this dude could take a few shifts for sure! If my dh could, in the military, working more than 12 hrs a day, and us ebf.... Then this guy can take a night or two!

We alternated nights and took shifts. One would handle meds and feeding between midnight and 7am, the other would get up that morning with her. Then we'd switch.

My didn't because I BF. If he gave the baby a bottle it would have been more work for me. I would have needed to get up and pump and then I would have bottles to wash! The whole point of nursing is to avoid preparing, storing and washing bottles. LOL

Maybe he's just a deep sleeper and when your friend gets up to feed the baby he doesn't even hear it.

You said that your ex was a light sleeper and many times he would get up to feed your dd and you wouldn't even wake up. Maybe your friends dh does the same thing. Some people fall into such a deep sleep, nothing wakes them, it isn't their fault, just the way he's made.

Now if he isn't and he's waking up, complaining, walking around and refusing to help, that would be different. If that's the case your friend needs to sit down with her dh and have a talk.

But if he's one of those that sleeps so deeply he doesn't hear anything and is unaware it may not be his fault.

I breastfed so I fed the baby at night but as soon as night time feedings ended he gets them at night for life. :) So for the past 2+ years I haven't had to get up at night like him.
